Hacking IKEA (products)

IKEA is all around us. And while most of their products make millions of people around the globe happy there are many products that drive people insane. Sometimes it is a small design fault that destroys the entire user experience. For example there is a drying rack for clothes called FROST. Whenever you pick let’s say a tshirt from the rack it collapses every third shirt. Some of us just accept those little flaws and then there are IKEA hackers.

Yes - you heard right, IKEA hackers. The subreddit r/ikeahacks has more than 200.000 members. It is a collection of people who adapt IKEA products or optimize them. One of them is Adam Miklosi. Luckily he is also an industrial designer and takes IKEA hacking serious. With his brand UPPGRADERA he has already launched two collections of beautiful little hacks to enhance everyday items from the Swedisch giant. With Enable 3D we have now the honor to publish his third collection of UPPGRADERA.

The collection features 5 new hacks from UPPGRADERA designed in collaboration with Enable 3D to level up you IKEA game. You can now upgrade you cheese graters, clothing racks, tooth brush holders or trays.

Discover the whole collection and download them for free at Enable 3D.

If you want to know more about the work of Adam, his process and the world of IKEA hackers: check out our little journey to Budapest to meet up with him on Youtube.
