State of DIY marketplaces

The DIY ecommerce and marketplace segment has been growing steadily over the years. From small businesses to larger enterprises, the demand for DIY and home improvement products has been on the rise. However, what is the current state of the DIY ecommerce and marketplace segment?

Recently, I had the pleasure of joining Ingrid Lommer and Valerie Dichtl on their podcast, Let's talk Marketplace, to discuss the DIY/Baumarkt segment. We delved into various topics related to the DIY ecommerce and marketplace segment, including the sudden end of MyToys and why I believe that resellers will have little chances on Zalando in the long run.

We also discussed the challenging economics of DIY products and which marketplaces are attractive to DIY and tool brands. Additionally, we explored the possibility of selling WIESEMANN 1893 products if one of the leading DIY retailers were to open up a marketplace model.

Lastly, we took a quick look at the exciting landscape of 3D printing marketplaces such as Cults, MyMiniFactory, or Cubee, with the help of Enable 3D.

While the podcast covered a wide range of topics, one positive example that I forgot to mention was Toolineo GmbH & Co. KG. Despite some setbacks in the beginning, this DIY marketplace is currently doing a great job, especially among the B2B crowd.

Overall, the DIY ecommerce and marketplace segment is constantly evolving. The current state of the industry is challenging, but there are still opportunities to be had. As a brand or retailer, it's crucial to stay innovative and adaptable in order to succeed in this competitive market.

In conclusion, if you're interested in the DIY ecommerce and marketplace segment, I highly recommend checking out the Let's talk Marketplace podcast. We covered a lot of ground, and it's a great resource for anyone looking to stay informed on the latest trends and developments in the industry.
